Field notes, what I am seeing, Summer 2026

Patterns from calls with first-time founders this quarter.

By Kayla SierraJuly 5, 20262 min read

Three patterns from consulting calls this quarter.

1. Founders are over-building their websites and under-building their offers

A beautiful site with a fuzzy offer converts worse than an ugly site with a specific offer. If your homepage cannot say who it is for and what they get in one line, redesigning the homepage is not the fix. Sharpening the offer is.

2. Everyone is trying to skip Module 2

Choosing the entity structure feels like paperwork. It is actually the decision that constrains everything downstream, taxes, hiring, funding, exit. First-time founders keep trying to defer it. Deferring it costs you.

3. The founders who move fastest have the smallest weekly rhythm

Not the biggest to-do list. The smallest. Three or four things they do every week, non-negotiable. Everyone else is drowning in a Notion doc.

If any of those ring true, you know where to start.

From the essay to the operating system

The ideas here live inside a real program.
